In Alabama, a 35-year-old woman was taken into custody by local sheriff’s deputies after they uncovered a significant amount of cocaine during a search warrant. Shockingly, authorities found thousands of dollars’ worth of cocaine stashed in the backpack of her 3-year-old child.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office acted on information received from a reliable source regarding the presence of substantial cocaine quantities at a residence, as stated in a recent news release. Narcotics investigators initiated surveillance and observed the woman leaving the premises, leading to further action by the sheriff’s office.

Following the woman in a marked vehicle, investigators conducted a traffic stop, revealing 1.5 kilograms of cocaine, a minor quantity of marijuana, and a handgun inside her vehicle, according to the department’s report.

The discovery of these illicit substances prompted the sheriff’s office to execute a search warrant at the residence the woman was observed leaving earlier, unveiling a concerning situation involving drugs and a young child.

In addition to the drugs found in the child’s possession, deputies discovered another kilogram of cocaine and two additional handguns inside a black backpack, the department confirmed.

During the search warrant, four minor children were present at the home, ages 3, 8, 10, and 15, with no adults in attendance, as reported by the sheriff’s office. The department highlighted that the cocaine and handguns were within reach of the minor children at that time.

The department indicated that additional charges against her might be forthcoming.

Sheriff Burch expressed his views on the matter to WKRG-TV in Mobile, Alabama, stating, “To say making a poor decision, I think that’s giving too much credit. I think she made a deliberate decision to transport significant amounts of drugs and a firearm in her vehicle while leaving her children unattended at home with even more cocaine and drugs. That’s a deliberate action, not a poor decision.”
